Resurfacing means removing the superficial layers of skin so that a new, healthier, younger-looking skin can form. At Elanic we use the CO2RE laser, one of the world’s most effective lasers. The laser is used with local anaesthetic cream and causes sunburn-type symptoms for the first few days, which takes two to three weeks to resolve.

This state-of-the-art device makes thousands of microscopic holes in the skin, resulting in deep collagen formation and marked skin tightening. This device gives better results but with a much quicker recovery time than old-style lasers.

The CO2RE can be used in several different ways dependant on the area you want to treat and the result you desire.  Some of the most popular treatments are for; acne scarring, skin resurfacing, fractional resurfacing, scar treatment and for wrinkles.

With CO2RE you can expect some discomfort during the treatment however we use local anaesthetic and sedation to ensure you remain as pain free as possible both during and after your treatment for a full face. Immediately following the procedure, you can expect a sensation similar to sunburn, which may last for several hours. In the days following treatment, you will experience peeling of dead skin from the treatment area. This is a natural exfoliation process and may last seven to 10 days.

For smaller areas such as smokers’ lines or the upper lip we apply a numbing cream prior to treatment.  We will ensure that you have adequate pain relief to take home with you as part of your after-care plan, skin will be red and tender to touch for around three weeks after treatment.
