Mr Gilmour is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon working at the Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Unit in Glasgow.
He graduated from the University of Glasgow Medical School and received broad training in all aspects of Plastic Surgery in leading centres in Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow. In addition to standard Plastic Surgery training, Mr Gilmour also completed a Clinical LASER Research Fellowship over a two year period in Glasgow, obtaining subspecialist training in LASER surgery whilst simultaneously undertaking a Higher Research Degree leading to an award of an MD in Microsurgical Breast Reconstruction.
After a successful competitive application and interview Mr Gilmour completed one of the esteemed Nationally appointed Trainee Interface Group (TIG) fellowships in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery, becoming one of the select group of Plastic Surgeons in the UK to have undertaken this subspecialist training. In addition, he has travelled internationally to observe renowned cutting-edge experts in the field of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery to ensure that he can offer this best standard of care to his own patients.
As well as publishing peer-reviewed articles and national guidelines Mr Gilmour also regularly reviews International articles for the Journal of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. He is actively involved in the training of future Plastic and Oncoplastic Breast Surgeons and is regularly asked to be on the faculty of many instructional teaching courses throughout the UK.
